PM Shehbaz meets Chinese envoy, vows to deepen Pak-China ties

Both sides acknowledge progress in strengthening bilateral ties, expressed satisfaction with ongoing exchanges.

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations, marking the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Tariq Fatemi and the foreign secretary were also present during the meeting.

The prime minister congratulated the Chinese leadership on the successful holding of the “Two Sessions” and thanked President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Foreign Minister Wang Yi for their congratulatory messages on Pakistan Day.

During the meeting, both sides reiterated their resolve to further promote cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), as well as in key sectors including agriculture, industry and infrastructure.

The Chinese side appreciated Pakistan’s ongoing economic reforms and efforts aimed at ensuring stability, while both countries agreed to enhance cooperation in trade and investment.

The two sides also agreed to increase high-level exchanges in connection with the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations and underscored Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability.

Reaffirming the strength of bilateral ties, both sides expressed their commitment to further consolidating the Pakistan-China “all-weather strategic cooperative partnership.”
