KARACHI: Muhammad Hassan Usmani of Pakistan secured a remarkable victory at the Ashgabat Open Tennis Tournament, defeating Turkmenistan’s second seed Suleyman Hudayberdiyev in the Under-14 final. Usmani dominated the match, winning in straight sets 6-1, 6-0, while conceding only one game.
Entering the tournament as a wildcard, Usmani delivered a series of stunning performances. He began by upsetting eighth seed Kerimgeldi Velibegov in the pre-quarterfinals and then overcame fourth seed Aly Geldyev in the quarterfinals.
Despite Hudayberdiyev’s experience, with 62 career matches compared to Usmani’s nine, the young Pakistani showcased exceptional dominance, securing his seventh international win. Over the course of five consecutive undefeated matches, Usmani displayed outstanding skill, winning 10 sets and dropping only one, with an impressive overall game score of 65-22.
Pakistan Tennis Federation President Aisam ul Haq praised Usmani’s achievement, stating that the Ashgabat Open provided an excellent platform for him to display his potential, leaving a strong impression on the international junior tennis scene.
