Pakistan Women's World Cup 2025 squad revealed: Fatima Sana to lead team for first time

Fatima Sana will lead Pakistan’s 15-member squad for the first time in an ODI World Cup

Lahore: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has officially announced the 15-member national women’s squad for the ICC Women’s ODI World Cup 2025.

Fast bowler Fatima Sana has been appointed as the captain for the first time in a World Cup, marking a significant milestone in her career. Meanwhile, Eman Fatima has earned her maiden call-up to the World Cup squad.

Team Squad:

The Pakistan women’s cricket team has announced its full squad for the upcoming World Cup, with Fatima Sana leading the side as captain. The main squad includes Muneeba Ali Siddiqui, Aliya Riaz, Diana Baig, Eman Fatima, Nashra Sandhu, Natalia Pervaiz, Omaima Sohail, Rameen Shamim, Sadaf Shamas, Sadia Iqbal, Shawal Zulfiqar, Sidra Ameen, Sidra Nawaz, and Syeda Aroob Shah.

Notably, Shawal Zulfiqar and Syeda Aroob Shah will be making their World Cup debuts, representing Pakistan on the global stage for the first time. Their inclusion reflects the team’s focus on nurturing emerging talent and building for the future.

Reserve Players:

The list of reserve players includes Gull Feroza, Najiha Alvi, Tuba Hassan, Umme Hani, and Waheeda Akhtar. These players will be available as backups in case of injuries or unforeseen circumstances during the tournament.

There have been two changes to the squad compared to the World Cup qualifier lineup. Gull Feroza and Najiha Alvi, who were part of the main squad during the qualifiers, have now been moved to the reserves. This adjustment suggests a shift in team strategy and selections based on current form and fitness levels.

ODI Series vs South Africa:

As part of their World Cup preparations, the 15-member national squad will play a three-match ODI series against South Africa in Lahore, scheduled from September 16 to 22, 2025.
