Ambassador Albert highlights Russia’s unifying role in region for collective peace, prosperity
President Asif Ali Zardari has highlighted the enduring cooperation and partnership between Pakistan and Russia in diverse areas saying this bond of mutual respect and trust between the two countries has grown further stronger in recent years.
President Zardari made these remarks while addressing as Chief Guest a reception hosted by Ambassador Albert Khorev of the Russian Federation to celebrate the 35th National Day of his country.
The event held at the Marriott Hotel was attended by eminent guests including Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Faisal Karim Kundi, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Tariq Fatemi, Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Pakistan Observer, Mr Faisal Zahid Malik, Ambassadors and diplomats of the former Soviet states, members of the diplomatic corps, Parliament, academia and the business community.
While felicitating the Russian ambassador on the national day of his country, President Zardari said Pakistan and Russia had “enormous potential” that must be harnessed to expand bilateral cooperation in trade, investment, technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
“On this significant occasion, Pakistan joins Russia in celebrating this National Day, reflecting our solidarity and friendship,” President Zardari said adding “I am glad to state that our bilateral relations have improved over the years, based on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared interests in various fields.
” Russian Federation is playing significant role in region’s stability and progress under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, said President Zardari adding Pakistan regards Russia as an important global power and a key player in promoting peace and stability in the Eurasian region.
President Zardari highlighted recent high-level exchanges between Islamabad and Moscow describing them as very productive and laying the foundation for deeper engagement.
“Pakistan and Russia will continue to cooperate closely on regional and international platforms,” he added.
