In a powerful show of support for the Palestinian cause, Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with Palestine at the “International Solidarity Meeting with the Palestinian Labor and People” hosted by the Arab Labor Organization in Geneva.
Speaking at the high-level event, Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain condemned Israeli aggression in Gaza, particularly the violence against unarmed civilians, including women, children, and the elderly. He urged the global community to take immediate action by providing financial aid, medical support, and food supplies to the affected Palestinian population.
The Minister called on the United Nations (UN) and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to step in urgently to halt the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and to help restore peace and normal civic life in the region.
The solidarity event was attended by senior ministers and dignitaries from ILO member states, including Palestinian Minister for Labour Dr. Anaas Atari, high-level Arab state representatives, the ILO Director-General, and the Secretary-General of the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC). All attendees unanimously condemned the ongoing genocide and human rights violations in Palestine.
On the sidelines of the meeting, Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain held a bilateral discussion with Luc Triangle, Secretary-General of ITUC. He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to international labor rights, highlighting efforts under the Decent Work Country Program and progress in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Minister emphasized the government’s focus on protecting migrant workers’ rights, improving workplace safety, and strengthening social protection systems for vulnerable labor segments.
Accompanying the Minister were Ambassador Bilal Ahmad, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the UN in Geneva, Joint Secretary OPHRD Suleman Ghani, Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed, and other senior officials from Pakistan.
