The Pakistan Junior Hockey Team delivered a commanding performance in their opening match of the Sultan of Johor Cup, defeating hosts Malaysia by an emphatic 7-2 margin at the Taman Daya Hockey Stadium.
From the first whistle, Pakistan played with intent and aggression. Safeen Khan set the tone by scoring in the opening quarter, followed by a goal from Ahmad Nadeem. Safeen struck again shortly after, ending the first half with Pakistan leading 3-1.
Malaysia added one more goal in the second half, but Pakistan remained in full control. They scored four additional goals to seal a comprehensive victory. Safeen Khan, who recorded a hat-trick, was deservedly named Player of the Match. Ahmad Nadeem netted a brace, while Hamza Fayyaz and Hannan Shahid also got on the scoresheet.
Pakistan will play their next match against England on Sunday. Meanwhile, in another opening-day clash, India edged past England with a 3-2 win.
