The Embassy of Pakistan in Stockholm, in collaboration with a large number of Swedish Kashmiri activists and members of the Pakistani diaspora, commemorated the Kashmir Solidarity Day. The event aimed to reaffirm Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s inalienable right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.
A significant number of participants from di-verse backgrounds attended the event, reflecting strong community engagement and shared commitment to the Kashmiri cause.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Bilal Hayee, drew attention to the continuing human rights situation in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He underscored concerns over restrictions on fundamental freedoms and emphasized the necessity of sustained international awareness, engagement, and advocacy to address the humanitarian and po-litical dimensions of the dispute.
Several speakers, including office bearers of the Kashmir Council Sweden, as well as representatives from academia and civil society, also shared their perspectives. They highlighted the historical background of the Kashmir dispute, the human rights challenges faced by the Kashmiri people, and the role of the international community in ensuring accountability and justice.
Participants collectively expressed solidarity with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and reaf-firmed their commitment to advocating for their legitimate rights.
The event concluded with a renewed call for a peaceful resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in line with international law, United Nations resolutions, and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
