Pakistan announce 15-member T20 squad for Sri Lanka tour

LAHORE: Pakistan have unveiled their 15-member squad for the upcoming T20I series against Sri Lanka, scheduled for January 2026, signaling a blend of experience and fresh talent.

Salman Ali Agha will captain the side, while wicketkeeper-batter Khawaja Mohammad Nafay earns his first call-up to the national T20 setup. All-rounder Shadab Khan returns to the squad after recovering from shoulder surgery.

The squad also features key players including Abdul Samad, Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Mohammad Nawaz, Salman Mirza, Mohammad Wasim Jr, and Naseem Shah. Completing the 15-member team are Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Usman Khan, and Usman Tariq.

Pakistan will depart for Sri Lanka in phases on January 4 and 5 to prepare for the three-match T20I series, with all games scheduled in Dambulla on January 7, 9, and 11.

Meanwhile, the deadline for submitting preliminary squads for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, is January 7.

Teams can make adjustments to their squads up to this date without ICC approval. however, any changes within one week of the tournament’s start require formal approval from the governing body.

The T20 World Cup will be held from February 7 to March 8, with Pakistan placed in Group A alongside arch-rivals India, the USA, the Netherlands, and Namibia, setting the stage for a thrilling campaign.
