LAHORE – Sikh student Onkar Singh has secured second position in the Lahore Board examinations, marking what has been described as a historic achievement for the Sikh community in the city after 78 years.
Onkar Singh’s success has been widely praised, with his father attributing the achievement to improved transparency in the examination system.
Speaking about his son’s performance, Onkar’s father said the measures taken by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensure transparency and fairness in examinations had played an important role in creating a merit-based environment for students.
He expressed appreciation for the provincial government’s efforts to promote transparency in the examination process, saying students could now compete on merit and achieve recognition through their hard work.
Onkar Singh’s achievement has also been welcomed as a positive example of educational inclusion and equal opportunities for students from minority communities in Punjab.
Talking to media, Onkar Singh says he wants to become a doctor. He says his father is a doctor and he wants to keep continue his father’s profession.
