SHARJAH: Pakistan lifted the tri-nation T20 series trophy after defeating Afghanistan by 75 runs in the final, thanks to a brilliant bowling performance from Mohammad Nawaz.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Pakistan posted 141 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Fakhar Zaman top-scored with 27 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz contributed 25 and Agha Salman added 24 runs to the total.
For Afghanistan, Rashid Khan impressed with three wickets, while Noor Ahmad and Fazal ul haq Farooqi picked up two wickets each.
Chasing a target of 142, Afghanistan crumbled against Nawaz’s fiery bowling attack, bundled out for just 66 runs in 15.5 overs. Nawaz’s destructive spell sealed Pakistan’s emphatic triumph and secured the series title.
Mohammad Nawaz not only completed a hat -trick against Afghanistan in the final match but also showed outstanding bowling, giving 19 runs in 4 overs for 5 players.
Mohammad Nawaz completed the hat -trick in two overs, he got wickets on the fifth ball of the sixth over and the sixth ball and then completed the hat -trick by taking wickets on the first ball of the eighth over.
Apart from Muhammad Nawaz, Sufiyan Maqeem and Mohammad Abrar took 2 wickets and Shaheen Afridi took one wicket.
Afghanistan’s captain Rashid Khan was the top scorer with 17 runs.
