RAWALPINDI:
Two brothers were found mysteriously dead inside their house on Zafarul Haq Road in the Waris Khan police station area on Wednesday. The family suspected deaths followed drinking an unknown mixture.
Police collected evidence from the scene and shifted the bodies to hospital for post-mortem examinations.
According to Rescue 1122 officials, a team reached a house on Zafarul Haq Road after receiving information that two brothers had fallen unconscious. The two men were found dead upon the team’s arrival, following which police were called to the scene.
Meanwhile, the deceased men’s third brother, identified as Suleman, arrived at the house. According to police, he told investigators that the family was Christian and that he lived in the house with his two brothers, 27-year-old Shan Victor and 37-year-old Danish, and their mother.
He said the family had rented out a room of the house to shopkeepers in the neighbourhood, while their mother also worked.
Sulaiman said after dropping their mother at work, he was leaving for work himself when he saw Shan and Danish preparing something in a water bottle, which they would often prepare and drink themselves. He said he advised them not to consume such mixtures and then left with their mother for work.
He said a shopkeeper later informed him that both brothers were lying on the floor in the courtyard. When he returned home, he found that both had died.
Suleman expressed suspicion that the brothers may have died after mixing something into the water and drinking it.
Police officials said evidence had been collected from the scene through the Punjab Forensic Science Agency, while the bottles had also been taken into custody.
Police said the actual cause of death would be established after the forensic and post-mortem reports, including analysis of the liquid found in the bottles, are received.
