Credible sources have confirmed that Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Mohammad Amir, will not be joining the ODI squad for the upcoming white-ball series against Australia in November.
Rumors had circulated about Amir’s return to the 50-over format, with reports suggesting that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had approached the 32-year-old pacer regarding his availability.
However, it is confirmed that Amir will not be part of Pakistan’s pace attack in the ODIs.
In Amir’s absence, Pakistan is set to deploy a powerful bowling lineup, which includes Shaheen Shah Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, and Mohammad Hasnain.
Amir last represented Pakistan in an ODI in 2019 against Sri Lanka, after which he focused on T20 leagues worldwide. His recent comeback to Pakistan’s T20 squad had sparked speculation about his potential inclusion in other formats for high-profile series, but that will not be the case this time.
Amir has an impressive track record against Australia, with 58 wickets across all formats, 26 of which were claimed on Australian soil. Despite his absence from the ODI squad, insiders suggest Amir may still be in consideration for the T20I series set to follow.
Pakistan’s tour of Australia will commence with a three-match ODI series starting on November 4, followed by a three-match T20I series on November 14. An official announcement regarding the final squad selection is expected soon.
