RAWALPINDI:
With the final approval of the project to install a modern European-style chairlift in the mountainous region of Panjpeer – the new tourist destination of Kotli Sattian – in 2024, formal orders have been issued for carrying out its feasibility study and recommending its route.
According to sources, the Tourism Development Corporation of Punjab will carry out the project study and an amount of Rs29.896 million has also been sanctioned for the purpose.
They said an international tender was being issued for the study in which big European companies will also be invited.
The Panjpeer mountain range of Kotli Sattian is situated at an altitude higher than the Murree hills and is rich in natural beauty. These rocky mountains are also completely black and have natural forests, beautiful valleys and springs. Mangla Dam and the border region of Azad Kashmir and the Indian Occupied Kashmir can also be seen from this location.
After the completion of the study, the chair lift project will be finalised in the light of the study. A helicopter will also be used for the study of the project. There is a scope for providing more funds for the study and route survey. At about 1,800 metres Panjpeer is a rock plateau and a major tourist attraction.
