Moammar Rana’s wife, Mehnaz, has obtained khula from a Lahore family court, bringing an end to their nearly 28-year marriage.

Family Court Judge Zahid Bashir granted the decree in favour of Mehnaz following proceedings in which her lawyer, Khadija Siddiqui, presented arguments on her behalf.

According to the petition, Mehnaz alleged that her husband subjected her to abuse and verbal mistreatment, particularly after consuming alcohol. She further claimed that he had verbally abused her multiple times in front of their daughters, causing them emotional distress.

The petitioner stated that she married Mehmood Rana on October 24, 1998, and that the couple have two daughters together, Rea and Raneya.

In her plea, Mehnaz also alleged that the actor failed to fulfil his financial responsibilities towards the household despite their long marriage.

The petition further stated that family members had repeatedly attempted to improve Rana’s behaviour but that he allegedly refused to seek treatment.

Mehnaz told the court that she was no longer willing to continue living with her husband and requested the dissolution of their marriage through khula.

After hearing the arguments, the family court ruled in her favour and issued the khula decree. The allegations presented in the petition have not been independently verified.

Earlier this month, the actor expressed his desire to save their relationship during a podcast appearance.
