At the time this story was filed, Pakistan’s claimed score of 391-9 was matched by the home team’s 362-4 score.
After the four-day encounter, Pakistan will play Australia in a three-match Test series.
Pakistan, who have lost all five of their Test series against Australia, will be lacking in hope going into a three-match series that begins in Perth next week. Shan Masood, the new captain, will have an even harder time winning with a severely depleted bowling corps.
Pakistan takes against the current world Test champions in Australia under the leadership of Pat Cummins, having last won a Test match there in late 1995, when almost half of the current team had not even been born.
Pakistan can never be written off due to their unpredictable nature, but their disorganized lead-up to the series makes it difficult for the tourists to return to Australia.
After their failure to advance to the 50-overs World Cup in India, Babar Azam resigned as all-formats captain last month, leaving Masood to take over as captain of the Test team.
