Lahore, Punjab weather update; isolated rains expected – Pakistan Observer

LAHORE – Isolated rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Thursday night and Friday.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly prevails over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Murree, Galyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Talagang, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Mianwali, Khushab, Bhakkar, Sargodha, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Okara, Kasur, Nankana Sahib, Lahore, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Sialkot, Narowal and Gujranwala on Thursday night and Friday. Windstorm/thunderstorm-rains may also occur in Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Layyah and Rajanpur. Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the province.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 43-45°C on Friday and 42-44°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry prevailed in Lahore and most parts of the province during the last 24 hours. Extremely hot weather prevailed in the southern/central parts. Light rain/drizzle occurred at isolated places of Potohar region.

Bhakkar and Noorpur Thal remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 49°C. The maximum temperature in Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Jhang, Jhelum, Okara and Narwal was recorded at 46°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 23 per cent.
