Lahore, Punjab continue to sizzle in heatwave – Pakistan Observer

LAHORE – A severe heatwave will likely persist in Lahore and most parts of Punjab during this week.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted 06 to 08°C above normal day temperatures for most districts of the province on Friday and during the weekend.

As per the synoptic situation, continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. High pressure prevails in the upper atmosphere, which will likely persist this week.

Under these conditions, heatwave will likely persist in Lahore and most parts of Punjab till May 27 with 06 to 08°C above normal day temperatures. In the Potohar region, Murree and Galyat, isolated rain-wind/thunderstorms are predicted.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 45-47°C on Friday and 46-48°C on Saturday.

Meanwhile, hot and dry weather prevailed in Lahore and most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Rahim Yar Khan remained the hottest place in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. Maximum temperature in Khanpur, Kot Addu, Bhakkar, Noorpur Thal and Dera Ghazi Khan was recorded at 47°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 31 per cent.
