Lahore doctors remove key from infant’s stomach – Pakistan Observer

LAHORE – Doctors at Lahore General Hospital on Thursday saved life of an infant by removing key from his stomach through endoscopic procedure.
Five month old Ayyan Khan, a resident of Sargodha, was brought to the LGH in critical condition. Team led by Associate Professor Pediatrics and Gastroenterology Dr. Hassan Salman Malik removed key from the stomach of infant through an endoscopy procedure. Assistant Professor of Pediatrics Dr. Houria Rehman assisted the procedure.
Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute/Ameer-ud-Din Medical College Prof. Muhammad Al-Fareed Zafar appreciated Dr. Hassan Salman Malik and Dr. Houria Rehman for providing timely medical assistance to the child. He said that life and death are undoubtedly in the hands of Allah Almighty but doctors always try their best to save a life. He assured that the LGH would continue to provide state-of-the-art medical facilities and no effort would be spared in the treatment of patients who come from far away.
MS LGH Dr Faryad Hussain also praised the team of doctors for saving the life of 5-month-old baby. He suggested parents to ensure that the children do not swallow anything that could prove harmful.
