LONDON: King Charles III appeared upbeat and energetic in new photographs released by the British royal family following his appearance at the Mey Highland Games in Scotland, as he continues treatment for cancer.

The games feature traditional Scottish competitions, including heavyweight events, Highland dancing, track contests, tug-of-war and junior athletics.
Charles has served as Chieftain of the Mey Highland Games since 2002, succeeding his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother.
The palace has not provided any new update on the king’s medical condition since December 2025, when Charles said that early diagnosis and effective treatment had yielded positive results and that the intensity of his treatment was expected to be reduced in 2026.
The royal family is also celebrating the birth of a baby girl to Princess Eugenie, whose arrival was announced on Aug. 4.

Earlier, Britain’s Royal Family marked the birthday of the late Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother sharing a collection of rare archival photographs celebrating her life and legacy.
The Royal Collection Trust posted historic images on social media, noting that Lady Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon, who later became Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, was born on Aug. 4, 1900.
Meanwhile, Glamis Castle, where the Queen Mother spent much of her childhood, also shared a tribute featuring rarely seen photographs from its archives.
