Islamabad, Rawalpindi weather update for Ashura; rains predicted – Pakistan Observer

ISLAMABAD – Rains and gusty winds are predicted in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Tuesday night and Wednesday (Ashura days).

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), moderate monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea will likely penetrate south Sindh and northeast Punjab. A westerly wave affects upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, monsoon rains and gusty winds are predicted in the twin cities and at isolated places in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, northeast Punjab, Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Tuesday night and Wednesday with occasional gaps. Hot and humid weather is predicted elsewhere in the country.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 38-40°C on Wednesday and 37-39°C on Thursday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 37-39°C on Wednesday and 36-38°C on Thursday.

Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. However, rain-wind/thundershowers occurred at isolated places in upper Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 47°C. Maximum temperature in Dalbandin was recorded at 45°C, and Turbat at 44°C.

In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 39°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 72 per cent.

In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 60 per cent.
