ISLAMABAD – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and at isolated places of Pakistan on Thursday and Friday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave persists over upper parts of the country.
Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms are expected at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Wednesday night. Hot and dry weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
On Thursday and Friday, rains and gusty winds are expected in the twin cities and at isolated places in northeast Punjab, Gilgit Baltistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Thursday and 39-41°C on Friday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 40-42°C on Thursday and 39-41°C on Friday.
Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in the country’s plains during the last 24 hours with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures. However, light rain/drizzle occurred at isolated places of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Jacobabad and Dadu remained the hottest places in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 51°C. Maximum temperature in Sibbi, Khairpur, Larkana and Mohenjo-Daro was recorded at 50°C, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad, Rohri, Turbat and Lasbella at 49°C, Kasur, Sakrand, Padidan, Hyderabad and Rahim Yar Khan at 48°C and Bhakkar and Jhang at 47°C.
In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 18 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, the maximum temperature was recorded at 42°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 13 per cent.
