IGP speaks to citizens via 1787 Complaint Center over phone – Pakistan Observer

Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, continuing the series of direct engagement with citizens, spoke to citizens over the phone at the 1787 Complaint Center and conducted a detailed review of the received requests and complaints. IG Punjab inquired from citizens regarding the actions taken by the police, the quality of investigations, conduct, and progress on their requests, and issued immediate instructions to the concerned officers.

Punjab Police spokesperson, while providing details, said that upon a request from a citizen of Chakwal regarding delay in the registration of a case, IG Punjab instructed DPO Chakwal to immediately contact the applicant and proceed with the necessary action. Regarding a complaint from a citizen of Faisalabad about non-registration of an FIR, CPO Faisalabad was issued immediate instructions for FIR registration. In response to a complaint from a citizen of Khanewal about substandard investigation, DPO Khanewal was directed to contact the applicant immediately and provide relief. IG Punjab Abdul Kareem, while giving clear instructions, said that RPOs and DPOs should contact citizens on a daily basis and collect feedback regarding actions taken on their requests. He stressed that unnecessary delays in FIR registration, substandard investigations, and misconduct toward citizens will be dealt with through strict departmental action without any leniency. IG Punjab further said that complaints received through CM Complaint Management System, PM Portal, 1787, and all other channels should be resolved immediately in accordance with the prescribed timelines and SOPs. IG Punjab appealed to citizens that in case of any irregularity or misconduct by police personnel, they should register their complaint at the 1787 Complaint Center so that timely action can be taken.
