A local holiday has been declared in Multan on July 22 to mark the 787th annual Urs of Hazrat Bahauddin Zakariya Multani.
According to a notification issued by Multan Deputy Commissioner Dr. Faisal Saleem, all government offices, public institutions and district-level offices across Multan will remain closed for the occasion.
The notification said the holiday was declared to allow citizens and devotees to take part in the religious gatherings and events being held as part of the annual Urs celebrations.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will observe a public holiday August 14, 2026, to celebrate Independence Day.
This year, the country will mark its 80th Independence Day with a renewed commitment to uphold the spirit of the Pakistan Movement and work toward making Pakistan a true Islamic welfare state.
The day will begin with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute at the provincial headquarters.
Special prayers also will be offered in mosques across the country for peace, unity and prosperity.
