114 Pakistani students including 66 girls secure Erasmus scholarships

In a row for the fourth consecutive year, Pakistan has once again secured the highest number of Erasmus Mundus Scholarships globally. This was announced the European Union Delegation to Pakistan on its official X account.

According to the EU Pakistan, 114 Pakistani students have been awarded Erasmus scholarships this year and among them, 66 are women.

This places Pakistan among the top countries for this prestigious programme. In total 2,176 students from 137 countries have won Erasmus scholarships, according to the EU Pakistan.

According to the European Union, Pakistan is ahead of other countries in South Asia like India (96 scholarships) and Bangladesh (95).

This achievement highlights the strong academic performance of the Pakistani students and the quality of education provided by Pakistani universities, according to the European Union Delegation to Pakistan.

The Erasmus+ program, funded by the European Union, supports education, training, youth, and sports across the globe.

In 2023, the European Union Delegation to Pakistan celebrated the largest batch of Pakistani students selected for the program. The Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan has been actively involved in facilitating the program’s implementation for Pakistani students since 2016, leading to a significant increase in the number of scholarship recipients.

The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degrees (EMJMDs) offer scholarships that cover tuition fees, travel expenses, and a living allowance for students from around the world. The program aims to foster social inclusion, support green and digital transitions, and promote youth participation in democratic life.
