Heatwave update for Lahore, Punjab; rains, gusty winds likely to give some relief – Pakistan Observer

LAHORE – Rain-wind/thunderstorms are likely in Lahore and at isolated places of Punjab on Wednesday night and Thursday. Rains and gusty/dust-raising winds will likely provide some relief to the people from the prevailing heatwave.

Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan. A shallow westerly wave persists over upper parts of the country.

Under these weather conditions, gusty/dust-raising winds and isolated rains are likely in Murree, Galyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujrat, Lahore, Sialkot, Khushab, Sargodha and Mianwali on Wednesday night and Thursday. Heatwave will likely persist elsewhere in the province with 04 to 06°C above normal day temperatures.

Lahore’s maximum temperatures will likely stay between 45-47°C on Thursday and 44-46°C on Friday.

Meanwhile, heatwaves prevailed in Lahore and most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.

Kasur and Rahim Yar Khan remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48°C. Maximum temperature in Bhakkar and Jhang was recorded at 47°C.

In Lahore, the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 11 per cent.
