The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to restore the central contract of Pakistan’s fast bowler Haris Rauf after he acknowledged his mistake.
Rauf’s contract was revoked last month when he declined to be part of Pakistan’s Test team for the 2023-24 Australia tour. Nevertheless, Rauf appealed against the decision, providing explanations for his decision to opt out of the tour.
In response to his appeal, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the reinstatement of Rauf’s contract, referring to a letter from the player in which he admitted his mistake.
“We have got a letter from Haris Rauf, in which he has written that there was a misunderstanding and he made a wrong decision. After we got his letter in writing, we have restored his central contract,” Naqvi stated.
Earlier, the PCB had put Rauf’s contract on hold until June 30 and barred him from participating in any overseas leagues until that date.
Currently, Rauf is in the recovery phase after dislocating his shoulder during the recently concluded ninth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
