LAHORE – A sessions court in Lahore on Saturday dismissed the interim pre-arrest bail of former DSP Usman Haider in a case pertaining to the alleged kidnapping and murder of his wife.
The court rejected the bail plea due to non-prosecution, after the defence failed to pursue the matter.
Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Ashfaq pronounced the order.
According to the prosecution, Barki police had registered a case of kidnapping against the accused, which was later supplemented with murder charges.
The former DSP had approached the court seeking pre-arrest bail in the case registered under the relevant provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code.
After hearing the available record and noting the absence of effective representation on behalf of the accused, the court dismissed the interim relief, paving the way for further legal action in accordance with the law.
Police officials said investigation in the case is underway.
