Federal Minister Ataullah Tarar calls Faiz Hameed’s sentence a historic verdict – Pakistan Observer

ISLAMABAD – Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar described the sentencing of former ISI DG Lt Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed as a historic decision, calling it a victory for truth and justice.

Ata Ullah Tarar said the Pakistan Army’s system and the country’s legal mechanisms are robust.

“This case involved extensive evidence presented over a long period, with numerous witness statements recorded. Faiz Hameed, acting as PTI’s political advisor, engaged in conspiracies against the country. Today’s verdict is historic,” said Attaullah Tarar while talking to a local private TV on Thursday.

He added that Faiz Hameed had crossed the red line. “Even after retirement, when political activities were prohibited, he became PTI’s political advisor and provided full political support to the party,” the minister said.

Ataullah Tarar also highlighted Hameed’s involvement in creating unrest during the May 9 incidents, inciting rebellion against the state, and misusing authority in the housing society case.

“These actions have been proven, making this a landmark decision that strengthens the legal and justice system,” he said.

The minister emphasised that the trial was fair, giving Hameed full opportunity to present evidence and witnesses in his defence. He added that the investigations into political activities linked to Hameed are ongoing.

“All allegations against him have been established. His political involvement was significant, and as PTI’s political advisor, he actively engaged in conspiracies and created disorder in the country,” Ataullah Tarar said.

He added that the May 9 events were serious as the investigations continuing into the role of Hameed’s political assistants, who were allegedly attempting to undermine the writ of the state.
