Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Maulana Fazl ur Rehman expressed hope that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) will support a constitutional amendment.

Speaking at a press conference alongside Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari early Sunday, Rehman mentioned, “Today, we expect a response from the PTI.”

He noted that he received a positive message from the founder of PTI, for which he was grateful. Rehman said, “We will be able to vote during the parliamentary sessions, and we are looking forward to today regarding this issue.” He added that there are no significant disagreements over the draft amendment.

Both the PPP and JUI-F have agreed on the constitutional amendment, and the government has consented to withdraw areas of the initial drafts that were contested. Earlier, it was reported that Rehman requested a day to present the constitutional amendment.

Rehman’s home has become a political center, with members of both the government and opposition gathering to discuss the 26th constitutional amendment. With unanimous approval expected, law minister Azam Nazeer Tarar delivered the final draft of the amendment directly to Rehman.

The atmosphere at Rehman’s residence has been lively, with various political leaders visiting throughout the day.
