ECP accepts intra-party elections of PTI-P

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday accepted the intra-party elections conducted by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarians (PTI-P).

As per the issued notification, Mahmood Khan was formally recognized as the chairman, with Malik Afzal Din Khan appointed as the vice chairman of PTI-Parliamentarians.

These intra-party elections were organized anew to address the vacancies created following the departure of Pervez Khattak from the chairmanship.

Pervez Khattak resigned from his position as the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf – Parliamentarians (PTI-P) subsequent to his electoral defeat in the general elections held on February 8.

It is pertinent to note that Pervez Khattak, the former KP Minister, was previously associated with PTI. However, he parted ways with the party last year to establish his own political entity known as PTI – Parliamentarians.

Similarly, the former Chief Minister of KP, Mahmood Khan, also disassociated himself from PTI and, along with 57 other former PTI members, pledged their allegiance to Pervez Khattak’s PTI-P.
