Court dismissed defamation claim against PTI founder
ISLAMABAD: The local court of Islamabad pronounced the verdict in the defamation case of former Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry after 10 years.
The court dismissed former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s claim of Rs 20 billion against Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.
In January 2015, Iftikhar Chaudhry filed a suit against the PTI founder on allegations of rigging in the 2013 elections.
A local court in Islamabad, in a defamation suit after 10 years, said that the PTI founder made baseless and fabricated allegations against the judiciary.
The court said that according to the claim of Iftikhar Chaudhry, in the statement of 27 June 2014, the founder of PTI used insulting words, the defamation claim was filed after 6 months and 24 days on 20 January 2015, while according to the 2002 law, A claim must be filed within the six months and not filed within 6 months of the legally defamatory statement.
