QUETTA – The Balochistan High Court has severely criticized law enforcers for their failure to recover 11-year-old Musawir Khan, who was abducted and later found murdered. The court termed the case a disturbing example of incompetence.
A two-member bench comprising Justice Iqbal Ahmed Kasi and Justice Muhammad Ayoub Tareen expressed strong dissatisfaction while hearing a constitutional petition filed by Haji Raz Muhammad, the father of the victim. The bench stated that even a routine kidnapping case was mishandled, exposing the deep flaws in the performance of police and other law enforcement agencies.
Musawir Khan was abducted on November 15, 2024, near Multani Mohallah in Quetta, while on his way to school. Despite lodging an FIR and forming a Joint Investigation Team (JIT), authorities failed to trace the child for over seven months. On June 26, 2025, the JIT informed the court that the child had been murdered, and his body was found buried in a grave just 50 kilometers from Quetta.
The High Court remarked that it was an unforgivable failure, as the child remained within a 50km radius the entire time. The court noted that the body was discovered not through any police action, but by sheer coincidence.
The bench extended heartfelt condolences to Musawir Khan’s family and directed the JIT and other agencies to intensify efforts to arrest those responsible and submit the challan to the relevant court without delay.
