AAC plans activities for Mirwaiz Farooq’s martyrdom anniversary – Pakistan Observer

The Awami Action Committee has denounced the continued house detention of its chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Awami Action Committee in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that due to restrictions, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq is unable to take part in social and religious events, including delivering Friday sermons at Jama Masjid, Srinagar.

The Awami Action Committee has announced to encourage prayers and alternative activities to honor the upcoming martyrdom anniversary of its founding chairman, Shaheed Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq on May 21.

In response to the challenging circumstances, the AAC emphasized that the enduring legacy of the beloved leader continues to inspire the Kashmiri people. The organization highlighted the importance of living by the principles upheld by Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq, promoting a selfless and principled approach in line with the teachings of the Quran and the Prophet’s Sunnah.

The AAC announced plans for commemorative activities, including a Majlis e Quran khwani and Muqabla Husne Qirat at Jama Masjid on May 17th, followed by an educational seminar on May 18th at Islamia School, Srinagar. The organization also called for a commemorative gathering at Eid Gah on May 21st, subject to authorities’ permission, to pay respects to the beloved leader and all the martyrs.

The AAC’s commitment to honoring Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq’s legacy and promoting peaceful commemoration activities reflects the enduring spirit of the Kashmiri people.—KMS
