Karachi experiences heavy rainfall, thunderstorms
Heavy rainfall has started in various parts of Karachi. Areas including Kathore, Gadap, and nearby localities are receiving showers, while areas like Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Malir, Safora, Model Colony, and Saadi Town are also experiencing intense rainfall.
Rain has also been reported in Defence, Scheme 33, North Nazimabad, Shahrah-e-Faisal, and Tariq Road with thunder and lightning.
According to the Meteorological Department, Karachi is under the influence of a monsoon system, and rain is forecasted from Friday through Sunday.
Meteorologist Anjum Nazir has warned of the risk of urban flooding on Saturday due to heavy rainfall. Intermittent rain is also expected to continue on Sunday.
He further stated that a low-pressure system currently over Gujarat, India, is likely to move toward Sindh in the coming days, potentially causing rain and increasing the risk of urban flooding in many cities across the province.
