KARACHI – Authorities have imposed a ban on swimming in the Karachi sea during the Eidul Azha holidays in order to avoid any untoward situation.
Those planning to visit the beach during Eid have had their excitement dampened, as a ban on swimming in the sea has been imposed in Karachi under Section 144.
According to the notification, the ban has been enforced due to high tides and rough sea conditions. The restriction will remain in place from the Eid holidays until June 13.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif approved a four-day public holiday on the occasion of Eidul Azha 2025, giving Pakistanis ample time to celebrate religious festival with family and friends.
The official holiday period will be from Friday, June 6 to Monday, June 9, 2025.
Eid-ul-Adha, also known as Bakra Eid, is one of the most significant religious events in the Islamic calendar, commemorating willingness of Hazrat Ibrahim (AS) to sacrifice his son in obedience to God’s command. Muslims across the country will mark the occasion with prayers, sacrificial offerings, and communal gatherings.
