Bionic Films CEO Salman Farooqi arrested after assault on Biker in Karachi – Pakistan Observer

KARACHI – Karachi’s upscale area saw a viral incident of road rage which escalated as businessman Salman Farooqi assaulted a man, who was travelling with family. Amid the outrage, Farooqui has been arrested for beating a biker boy.

Cops detained a businessman after violent assault on biker from Defence Phase 6 as the incident was all over the internet and local media. The incident occurred on May 31 near Khayaban-e-Ittehad and involved road collision between biker and Land Cruiser, allegedly owned by Farooqi.

What followed accident was an unprovoked and brutal assault on biker by Farooqi and his armed security personnel. Viral clips circulating on online show Farooqi, assisted by his driver and guard, forcefully detaining biker in the vehicle, physically assaulting him, hurling verbal abuse, and issuing threats.

Disturbingly, a woman accompanying the biker can be seeen pleading for mercy with folded hands, only to be shoved away. Police initially arrested Farooqi’s security guard and driver and impounded the vehicle.

On Sunday night, law enforcement officials raided multiple locations and eventually apprehended Salman Farooqi. A case (FIR No. 25/278) has been registered at Gizri Police Station under serious charges, including criminal intimidation (506-B), assault or use of criminal force to outrage modesty (354), wrongful confinement (342), and common intention (34).

DIG South confirmed that while victim had not yet contacted the police, efforts are underway to locate and assist him. “No one is above the law. We are taking this case very seriously, and justice will be ensured,” he stated. SSP South Mehzor Ali also noted that raids were conducted at Farooqi’s residence and office.

A picture of the victim also surfaced online, showing the accused behind lockup.  Public pressure continues to mount as the video of the incident fuels debate over law enforcement’s handling of cases involving influential individuals.
