Weather update for Lahore, Punjab; significant monsoon rains expected – Pakistan Observer

LAHORE – Significant monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Wednesday night and the next two days with occasional gaps.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), strong monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal will likely penetrate upper parts of Pakistan tonight. They will affect central and southern parts of the country from August 02. A westerly wave will likely affect upper parts of the country from tonight.
Under these weather conditions, rains and gusty winds are expected in Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore and Sahiwal on Wednesday night.
On Thursday and Friday, more intermittent rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Sialkot, Narowal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujarat, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sahiwal, Pakpattan, Kasur, Okara, Sargodha, Mianwali, Khushab, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Murree, Galliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Dera Ghazi Khan, Taunsa, Rajanpur, Bhakkar and Layyah.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Thursday and Friday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed over most parts of the province during the last 24 hours.
Bhakkar and Kot Addu remained the hottest places in the province where the maximum temperature was recorded at 43°C. Maximum temperature in Sahiwal and Multan was recorded at 40°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 38°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 86 per cent.
