ISLAMABAD – More rain-wind/thunderstorms and isolated hailstorms are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Pakistan on Friday night, Saturday and Sunday.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a westerly wave prevails over western and upper parts of the country and will likely persist in upper parts during the next two to three days.
Under these conditions, rain-wind/thunderstorms with isolated hailstorms are expected in the twin cities, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir on Friday night and the following two days. Heavy falls are also likely at few places in northern Balochistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Heavy rainfall may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Balochistan (Noushki, Chagai, Kharan, Turbat, Kech, Gwadar, Awaran, Ziarat, Pishin, Harnai, Zhob, Barkhan and Naseerabad) from tonight to 27th April. Rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Dir, Swat, Chitral, Manshera, Kohistan and Kashmir from 27th to 29th April.
Landslides are also likely in Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan from 27th to 29th April. Windstorms/hailstorms and lightning may affect human lives, standing crops, and loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.
Islamabad’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 31-33 degrees Celsius on Saturday and Sunday.
Rawalpindi’s maximum temperatures will likely remain between 31-33 C on Saturday and Sunday.
Meanwhile, rain-thunderstorm occurred at isolated places in Balochistan, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, south Punjab, Kashmir and upper Sindh during the last 24 hours.

Kasur remained the hottest place in the country where the maximum temperature was recorded at 42 C.
In Islamabad, maximum temperature was recorded at 26 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 51 per cent.
In Rawalpindi, maximum temperature was recorded at 32 C. Relative humidity during the evening was recorded at 48 per cent.
