Maryam Nawaz leads transportation infrastructure meeting in Punjab
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz presided over a critical meeting aimed at improving transport infrastructure throughout the province, including proposals for an underground train in Lahore and metro bus projects in three Punjab cities.
Lahore is ready to welcome 27 new electric buses, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s approval, following a comprehensive assessment of transport sector efforts attended by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
CM Maryam emphasised public welfare and encouraged officials to keep bus prices affordable. Additionally, the expansion of Metro Bus programmes to three new cities was approved. Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed an increase of government-subsidized bicycles for students, lobbying for cheap monthly installments.
The gathering was informed of plans to offer 20,000 bikes, including 19,000 petrol bikes and 1,000 e-bikes, in partnership with the Bank of Punjab (BOP).
