PCB denies NOC extensions, restricts player participation in international leagues
- PCB denies NOC renewals, limiting players in international leagues.
- Players requested extensions for high-profile league opportunities.
- PCB restricts player involvement until February 7 after evaluation.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided not to renew No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for its national players, thereby limiting their involvement in international leagues.
This decision stands firm despite appeals from players participating in ongoing T20 leagues such as the UAE ILT20 and the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024.
Insiders from the PCB have disclosed that numerous cricketers requested NOC extensions to take advantage of opportunities in these high-profile leagues.
Nevertheless, following a comprehensive evaluation, the board chose not to increase the distribution of NOCs. Players have been informed that their involvement is restricted until February 7.
This surprising refusal has not only let down and irritated players who are currently part of the national team but also those who are not actively participating. In a surprising twist, even players who were not planning to participate in the upcoming leagues have been recalled.
One player voiced their opinion on the matter, suggesting that players who don’t have workload management issues should be permitted to play more. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is set to begin on February 17, and players can engage in international leagues until then.
A few players mentioned that some players have been granted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) until February 13, while one player has an NOC valid until February 16.
