Simon Halls, originally from Toronto, Canada, is a seasoned publicist with decades of experience handling publicity for top Hollywood stars. After a short time at Warner Brothers post-college, he moved to Los Angeles for the University of Southern California. Halls went to Russia to work as the public relations manager for the country’s first McDonald’s.
Returning to the United States, he founded the boutique Hollywood agency Huvane Baum Halls in 1995, later sold to the Interpublic Group in 2000. This agency merged with industry giant PMK, and as the CEO of the new PMK/HBH, Halls oversaw Oscar campaigns for films like the 2000 Best Picture winner Gladiator and 2005’s Brokeback Mountain.
Later, he started Slate PR, with offices in New York City and Los Angeles. In an essay for his alma mater, Halls highlighted that in the world of public relations, where content is abundant, a ‘less is more’ approach is key.
Bomer and Halls have three sons: Kit, born in 2005, and twins Henry and Walker, born in 2008. They focus on encouraging their sons’ creativity, as mentioned by Halls in an interview with People.
