Rizwan willing to bat anywhere to accommodate Fakhar

Pakistan wicket-keeper batter, Mohammad Rizwan, has expressed his readiness to swap his batting position with Pakistan opener, Fakhar Zaman, if required.

During a media talk on Friday in Colombo, Rizwan was asked about the possibility of changing his batting position to facilitate Zaman. Rizwan responded by lauding Zaman’s recent achievement as ‘player of the month’ and also expressed his willingness to adjust batting positions for the benefit of the team.

“Fakhar Zaman has recently been ‘player of the month’ as far as I can recall. It has been circulating that Fakhar Zaman isn’t in form, but if you see the early part of his last few innings, the ball is hitting his bat, but he’s been getting out in different ways. If he was getting out in the same pattern, then we could have concluded that there might be a [technical] fault,” Rizwan said.

“We are hoping that we don’t need to change our opener, but even if there’s any need, then it’s up to the management. Personally, I am ready for any position,” he added.

Zaman, known for his explosive batting style, has been a key player for Pakistan over the years. But the 2023 Asia Cup has seen Zaman making limited contributions, where he scored only 34 runs in two innings. However, skipper Babar Azam is likely to give the veteran opener one more chance as Zaman has a great record against India.
