Pakistan’s premier eventer finishes 19th in dressage with 36.70pp and 20th in showjumping with 44.70pp
Pakistan’s premier eventer Usman Khan on Tuesday made his Asian Games debut in Japan.
Usman finished 19th out of 31 riders in dressage with 36.70 penalty points.
China’s Tian Hua topped the race with 26.90 pp, and was followed by Korntawat Samran of Thailand with a 29.70pp and Japan’s Toshiyuki Tanaka at the third place with 29.90pp.
Meanwhile in showjumping Usman ended 20th out of 32 riders with a 44.70pp.
China’s Tian Hua also ruled this section with 26.90pp. He was trailed by Woraphat Sihiju of Thailand with 30.10pp and Ryo Murata of Japan with 30.40pp.
The cross country competition will be held on Wednesday.
This is the first time that Usman has been featuring in the Asian Games. He had qualified for the previous three editions but could not proceed due to financial issues.
“It’s part of the game. We were scored hardly by the judges in dressage. Then dropped two rails,” Usman told The Express Tribune
“The Mirage looked a bit tired because of travelling. But he jumped his heart out. Big scope jumps. Tomorrow we try cross country InshaAllah,” Usman said.
“Both rails came from back feet of the horse and not the front. He tried.”
