KARACHI – The Sindh High Court on Friday directed a trial court to conclude within three months the case against two suspects who are accused of allegedly facilitating Anmol alias Pinky in financial matters.
A bench comprising Justice Iqbal Kalhoro heard the bail applications filed by the two accused, who are alleged to have acted as facilitators for Anmol alias Pinky.
During the hearing, the defence counsel requested permission to withdraw the bail applications. The lawyer also asked the high court to direct the trial court to expedite proceedings and complete the trial within a specified period.
The high court accepted the request and dismissed the bail applications as withdrawn. The court directed the trial court to complete the proceedings within three months.
Justice Iqbal Kalhoro observed that if the trial was not completed within the stipulated period, the applicants would be entitled to approach the high court again.
The judge further clarified that if fresh bail applications were filed after the expiry of the three-month period, the court would decide them on merit.
According to the state counsel, two accused are allegedly involved in facilitating Anmol alias Pinky in financial transactions. The two accused are reportedly associated with the microfinance business.
The prosecution alleged that two accused used to verify and confirm payments received by Anmol alias Pinky in connection with drug-related transactions.
The state counsel told the court that after the accused allegedly confirmed the payments, riders would proceed with the delivery of narcotics.
The allegations against the two men form part of the ongoing investigation into the activities allegedly linked to Anmol alias Pinky.
