A suspected criminal was injured and arrested following an exchange of fire between police and two suspects during a checking operation at 8-Kassi Chowk on Mahni Sial Road, police said on Friday.
According to police, a Sadar Kabirwala Police team signalled two men riding a 125cc motorcycle to stop during the operation. The suspects allegedly opened fire on the police party, prompting officers to take cover behind their official vehicle and return fire in self-defence.
After the firing ceased, police searched the area and arrested one of the suspects, who had sustained gunshot injuries.
