KARACHI – A sessions court in Karachi has sentenced two men to double life imprisonment after finding them guilty of abducting and raping an underage girl who was begging in the city.
Additional Sessions Judge South convicted Ghulam Rasool and Khalid and ordered both men to pay Rs500,000 each as compensation to the victim.
The prosecution told the court that the incident occurred in 2022. The suspects allegedly lured the minor with an offer of ration before taking her to an area near Sea View, where she was sexually assaulted.
Both convicts had been working as drivers for a ride-hailing service. Investigators obtained information about their association with the company during the investigation.
The court noted that the victim identified the two men during an identification parade. Her evidence was considered a key part of the prosecution’s case.
Medical findings submitted during the trial were also found to be consistent with the victim’s account, providing further support to the prosecution’s evidence.
After considering the evidence, the court awarded double life imprisonment to each of the two convicts and imposed the compensation order.
