“Pakistan’s greatest strength lies not in its natural resources but in the immense potential of its people. The youth of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir must become the architects of national progress by embracing knowledge, entrepreneurship, and principled leadership,” said Sardar Masood Khan, former President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and former Ambassador of Pakistan to the United States, China, and the United Nations.
Talking to a delegation of young lawyers and students, led by Syed Shariq Bin Ajmal, Ambassador Masood Khan said that the future of Pakistan and Kashmir would be shaped by an enlightened, confident and educated youth capable of transforming challenges into opportunities. He stressed that intellectual capital, innovation and moral courage constitute the true foundations of national development and prosperity.
Highlighting the importance of education, he encouraged students to cultivate independent thinking rather than becoming prisoners of divisive narratives. He urged them to read extensively, strengthen their understanding of national and international affairs, and develop informed opinions rooted in facts, wisdom and confidence.
“The greatest investment a nation can make is in its human capital,” he remarked, adding that young people must equip themselves with knowledge, skills and character to lead Pakistan towards economic resilience and global competitiveness. Ambassador Masood Khan underscored the importance of entrepreneurship and wealth creation, urging young people to become creators of opportunity rather than seekers of dependence. He observed that financial independence empowers individuals to contribute more meaningfully to society, support national development and engage in public service with integrity and confidence. He called for greater institutional engagement and meaningful participation of young professionals in governance, policymaking and public administration. Sardar Masood Khan emphasized that talented youth from every district should be provided opportunities to contribute to national institutions through internships, policy forums and leadership initiatives, thereby bridging the disconnect between government institutions and the younger generation.
Ambassador Khan also urged young leaders to reject negativity and cultivate unity, service and constructive engagement. Drawing inspiration from Islamic teachings and the lives of exemplary leaders in history, he reminded students that lasting leadership is built upon humility, sacrifice, justice and unwavering commitment to the public good. Ambassador Masood Khan encouraged the students to remain optimistic about the future of Pakistan and Kashmir, urging them to transform their aspirations into meaningful action. “The future belongs to those who prepare themselves today,” he said, expressing confidence that an educated, innovative and purpose-driven youth would become the driving force behind a stronger, more prosperous and more resilient Pakistan.
