Punjab machinery fully active amid record rainfall: Marriyum – Pakistan Observer

Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb said drainage operations were continuing at full pace across the province despite record rainfall, with machinery deployed in all affected areas.

Speaking to a private television channel, she said Punjab was witnessing record rainfall while authorities were carrying out record-level drainage operations. She added that machinery had been deployed in 41 districts and all relevant departments remained fully operational. Maryam said Gujranwala received record rainfall a day earlier, but timely drainage operations prevented prolonged water accumulation. She added that the situation was being monitored continuously through the Safe City system, while Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was personally overseeing the arrangements. She said floodwater used to remain on roads for weeks in the past, but the situation had now improved significantly, adding that key locations, including the Lahore High Court and Lakshmi Chowk, were cleared promptly.

The senior minister said rainfall was continuing in Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin and Chakwal, adding that the Punjab government had completed pre-monsoon preparedness measures well before the start of the rainy season. She added that drainage work was progressing rapidly in Lahore
