Afghanistan-based terrorism poses threat to global peace, Asim Iftikhar

Pakistan desires a safe and peaceful Afghanistan, says Asim

Pakistan’s envoy to the United Nations, Asim Iftikhar, has warned that terrorism originating from Afghanistan poses a serious threat to global peace and security.

Speaking at the UN, Iftikhar highlighted that terrorists operating from Afghanistan have killed innocent civilians in Pakistan and that foreign weapons were recovered during counter-terrorism operations.

He emphasized that the Taliban regime is providing safe haven to terrorists, who are carrying out violent attacks in Pakistan and other countries.

He further stated that on February 26, the Taliban regime launched an unprovoked attack, prompting Pakistan to respond by targeting enemy forces and terrorist elements.

Iftikhar stressed that Afghanistan hosts sanctuaries for banned groups, including the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and other terrorist organizations.

The Pakistani envoy underscored that Pakistan desires a safe and peaceful Afghanistan and said that the only way forward is the implementation of the Doha Agreement.
