SHC announces schedule for hearing of cases during holy month of Ramazan 2026 – Pakistan Observer

KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) has announced the schedule for hearing of the cases during the holy month of Ramazan for this year of 2026. The notification, issued by the court administration, specifies that regular court proceedings from Monday to Thursday will begin at 8:30 am and continue until 1:30 pm.

The revised schedule also includes a half-hour break for prayers during the workday.

On Fridays, judicial matters will be conducted without any breaks, running from 8:30 am to 11:30 am, in accordance with the shorter working hours observed on the holy day.

The notification further stated that the session courts across the province would follow similar timings, holding proceedings from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm during Ramazan. This adjustment is aimed at accommodating the fasting schedule while ensuring the smooth functioning of the judicial system.

The court officials said that all hearings, filings and administrative work would continue as per the revised hours, and lawyers, litigants and staff are advised to plan their visits accordingly.

The decision comes as part of the court’s annual practice to modify working hours during Ramazan, reflecting sensitivity to the religious obligations of employees and the public. By implementing shorter and flexible hours, the SHC aims to balance the need for continued judicial operations with the physical demands of fasting during the summer months.

The legal practitioners and court staff welcomed the announcement, saying that the schedule provides a practical framework for managing court work while observing Ramadan. Citizens seeking court services are encouraged to take note of the revised timings and adjust their schedules to avoid inconvenience.

The Sindh High Court assured the public that all essential judicial matters including cases of urgent nature would be taken up promptly despite the shortened hours.
